Zapíšu sa do histórie
Snímka The Power of the Dog, ktorá sleduje príbeh dvoch bratov žijúcich na ranči v americkom štáte Montana v 20. rokoch 20. storočia, bola nominovaná dovedna v 12 kategóriách vrátane najlepšej réžie a najlepšieho filmu. Režisérka Campionová sa tak stala prvou ženou v histórii Oscarov, ktorá bola na toto prestížne ocenenie nominovaná už dva razy - prvýkrát pred 28 rokmi za film Piano.
Desať nominácií získala sci-fi snímka Duna kanadského režiséra Denisa Villeneuva. Na treťom mieste so siedmimi nomináciami skončili čiernobiely životopisný film Belfast režiséra Kennetha Branagha zaoberajúci sa násilnosťami v Severnom Írsku v 60. rokoch 20. storočia a muzikál West Side Story v réžii Stevena Spielberga.
V poradí 94. ročník udeľovania Oscarov sa uskutoční 27. marca v Hollywoode.
