BRATISLAVA, November 15, (SITA) -- Interior Minister Vladimir Palko informed media at a Friday's meeting with the press that new police officer will be selected for the Office for Protection of Constitutional Officials. So far, any policeman could work with the office but this is going to change. From now on, service at the office will require practice, good physical condition, mastering of at least one foreign language, shooting exams and psychological tests. Meeting of these requirements should make a reliable elite unit from the office, the minister underscored.
Jan Packa, head of the Office for Protection of Constitutional Officials and Diplomatic Missions said that the main selection criterion would be intelligence. We can make a "Rambo" from an intelligent man in sixth months but we cannot make a foolish person intelligent, said Mr. Packa.
Guards of the Office for Protection of Constitutional Officials and Diplomatic Missions will also protect a special prosecutor who will be appointed to fight organized crime and corruption, as well as justices of a special court and their family members, the minister specified.
This year guards of the office will take part in a special driving training provided by German BMW and should get special training also in the United States.
